THANKFUL

Thanksgiving has quickly become my favorite holiday over the past few years. Most likely because I've gotten older, and food has become the driving factor. But I think most of all, it's my favorite because it is so humble. Think about Thanksgiving. It's the unspoken hero of the holiday season. It's basically the kickoff for the most wonderful time of the year. Not only is it the most humble holiday, but it's also the least stressful (unless you're in charge of dinner). Greater than gifts you get for Christmas, it's all about the love and family you're surrounded by and reminded of for the day. The older I get, the more I realize how thankful I really am this time of year. I get to see my amazing family around the dinner table, and they make me laugh harder than anyone else. This year especially, I'm so incredibly excited to see everyone I've missed for three months. I am so blessed to have the people in my life that make me the happiest. My family at Chi Omega is my newest thing to be thankful for. The love, laughs, and overall support I get from this group of women. They are the place I call home here at Iowa. Without them, I don't know where I'd be. My sorority life has brought me the most amazing people that I now can't see my life without. I'm proud to call them my sisters. I'm also more thankful than ever for my friends at home. I miss them a lot while I'm away, and more than anything, I can't wait to tell them about all the amazing experiences I've had while here. I can't wait to hear about theirs too. Thanksgiving is that time of year where the most important things become clear: family and friends, and all the blessings you can count on a daily basis. This time of year brings joy to everyone because it's when we remember what we can call home. And this year, more than any other year, I am especially thankful.
