QUOTE-INSPIRED: "COMFORT ZONES"

Quote: "Great things never came from comfort zones." We all play it safe. Sometimes we can't imagine doing anything beyond a certain line that we draw for ourselves, and we draw these lines of security until we find ourselves in a box. That box is what is holding you back. It's in your mind. And these comfort zones are not comfortable, they are restrictive. What I want to think about this week is the fact that the best things come from the steps we take outside of our comfort zones. They come from that toe we dip in the water, that word we utter in times of fear, and those true "aha!" moments where we realize that these lines are nothing but that. Lines. Lines that we draw with a pencil and see as permanent marker. We can erase these lines, or better yet, we can ignore them altogether. What we seek is what's beyond those lines. That grey area, the great unknown, the "what-if's" in life. So the next time you think, "wow I could never do that," the truth is you're right. You could never do that until now. Until right now where you thought about doing it. Now you're thinking about doing it and you're thinking about reaching across that line. You've conquered the line, you've passed it, and you've left it behind. So the next time you think about your comfort zone, figure out exactly what lies right outside of it... those little things we can grab hold of to break out of our zones. To move those lines farther and farther out until there's no point in having lines. They are nothing but figments of our imagination, and we don't have to imagine anymore. Because we're doing it.

Where Gratitude Is Due

As my sophomore year of college comes to a close, I can't help but look back on all of the memories this year has brought me. Lots of fun...
