The 5 Podcasts You Didn't Know You Needed

Hello friends, I'm here with a different kind of post today! It's a list for once, too!

I've been trying to get into more podcasts -- they're a very ~trendy~ medium, and they are increasing every day in scope and quality. If you're a Spotify or Apple Music fan, this may be your next big fix for long car rides, walking to class, or even just getting ready in the morning. These 5 that I have selected are all a little different, but they are absolutely awesome options for people who have varying interests such as myself. I hope you give them a listen!

This is your classic #bossbabe #girlpower #motivation podcast. What I think sets it apart is how Jenna speaks to her audience. It feels like this perfect mix between an inspiring movie character giving a monologue and a really thorough TED Talk. She covers topics like social media, starting a business, personality assessments, and more. If you like being spoken to like a future CEO, you are going to love this one! Check out her most recent episode, "Don't Do These 3 Things On Instagram" for an interesting look at how we use our social sites.

MORNING MINDSET CHRISTIAN DAILY DEVOTIONAL - Carey Green

For those of you who may say you don't have time to listen to a daily or weekly hour-long podcast, this quick and habit-forming devotional podcast is for you. If you enjoy the idea of a quick bible study small group message being delivered to you every morning, then Carey Green's format is perfect for you! While you can listen to it at the beginning of every day, you could also switch it up like me and choose to end the day on these uplifting messages to prepare for the next day. A great way to feel connected to God if you struggle with balancing your time!

HAPPIER WITH GRETCHEN RUBIN - Gretchen Rubin / The Onward Project / Panoply

I have been a fan of Gretchen Rubin's since I read her book, The Happiness Project, in high school. The topics she covers all relate back to the basic idea of being happier with your day to day life. Not only does she have longer segments that cover larger subject matter, but she also has these shorter segments called "Little Happier" which are 2-3 minute anecdotes with easy to understand takeaways. Gretchen interviews different experts and special guests, and overall, I think her show is an awesome and simple way to stay connected to yourself!

THE GOOP PODCAST - Goop, Inc. and Cadence 13

If you've never heard of Goop, it's Gwyneth Paltrow's high-end wellness brand that features products focused on odds and ends that are good for the mind, body, and soul. In their podcast, Gwyneth and Goop's Chief Content Officer chat with various professionals in conversations that spark a lot of new thinking for listeners. This podcast has a little bit of everything -- creative thinking, medical advice, and a lot of feel-good takeaways. They cover every aspect of "being well", and it's an important reminder of all the important ways we can choose to take care of ourselves. My most recent favorite episode was featuring a clinical psychologist who talked about having a "social anxiety toolbox", used to help people work through their issues with being anxious.

Another person that I have been following for a while: Stassi Schroeder! I'm a huge fan of Vanderpump Rules on Bravo, and one of the most entertaining and interesting characters to watch throughout the storylines is Stassi. She's witty, she knows what she wants, and she is impossible to ignore. In her podcast, she speaks about hot topics in pop culture, tells her own stories about her life and relationships, and brings her friends on the show, making for some very fun segments. If you like some good old fashion girl talk, then this is the perfect place to get it!

I hope you give some of these podcasts a try and you find something you enjoy! They're a positive habit-former, and a great way to relax and get away from your screens while using technology for enrichment rather than distraction. Feel free to reach out to me with your thoughts, and please, if you have suggestions for any podcasts you've been loving, send them my way!

xo Kate
