4 FREE Things To Do At Home That You Haven't Thought of Yet

Let me just say, I hope everyone reading this is doing well, feeling safe, and taking care of themselves. What's happening in the world today is absolutely unreal and can cause waves of anxiety and uncertainty. What I'm finding the most challenging about this situation is feeling I have too many hours in the day and not enough to do! I enjoy staying busy, and this has taken a complete toll on all of our daily lives. With that being said, if you're at home, like me, like you're supposed to be, and having trouble staying busy, I have some great resources to share that are free, accessible from home, and will help you better yourself. Here are the four free things to do at home that you haven't though of yet.
Brit+Co Free Online Classes Through March
For those of you who have been wanting to try a new hobby or skill, or are just curious about a topic completely foreign to you, there is an awesome opportunity right now being offered through Brit+Co! They offer a wide variety of classes, normally costing anywhere between $30 and $100, and from now until the end of March (time sensitive offer!) you can access all classes for free. Use the code SELFCARE at checkout. No subscription, no credit card information, just a straight forward access to try something new. I'm personally interested in exploring their calligraphy and lettering classes, along with the Kill It On Instagram Bundle. While this offer only lasts for a few more days, go ahead and take advantage now! You can find all of their classes here.
Listen to Free Audiobooks
Multiple audiobook sites are offering up their services. My two favorites include Audible and Scribd. If you're not a reader, audiobooks are a great alternative that can help you multitask while you may be stuck at home. Scribd's offer is a 30-day trial, while Audible has a select amount of audiobooks they are making free. From the Audible selection, I'm most interested in giving Brand New You a listen. Your local library may also offer its own audiobook/mobile app, such as Hoopla. Hoopla allows you to virtually borrow 8 books per month, which is sure to keep you busy during these next few weeks! You can find the Scribd offer here, and the list of free Audible titles here.
30-Day Yoga and Fitness Challenges
Let's be real, I am 100% not a fitness guru. I can admit that I very rarely go to the gym. However, in the midst of being cooped up in my house for the near forseeable future, I do feel I'm going to need to integrate some exercise and activity into my routine. That's why I'm turning to Youtube for help. While you can search for just about any type of workout on Youtube, one element that often keeps us committed is a challenge or schedule for fitness. One of my favorite channels, Yoga With Adriene, has an abundance of videos on yoga, meditation, and specified exercises for different functions or goals. Most of her videos are around 20 minutes, so incorporating this into your day shouldn't be too challenging if you're at home. With 6.33 million subscribers, she is one of the most popular Youtube yogis around. You can find her channel here!
Journal Your Feelings For 30 Days
Because these times can be stressful, it's important now more than ever to take care of yourself mentally. Through this site, you can document your feelings to keep a running journal. When you sign up with your email, you will begin receiving daily prompts in your inbox to follow. You can choose to document your journal on a Word document, a journal, or even a post-it note. The goal is to work through your thoughts and practice self care. The creator, Amber Rae, has a goal to "help you still your mind and bring forth the jewels that are hidden within you"! You can find the website to get started here.
Going along with all of these ideas to fill your schedule, be sure to check in with yourself and your loved ones during these wild times. While some of us have the privilege of sitting comfortably in our homes with friends and family, others may not be so lucky. Reaching out to loved ones during these isolating times will help us all get through it together!
I hope you give some of these ideas a try, and I hope you have something new on your schedules!
XO Kate
